Biking Around Long Island - Laffey Real Estate

Bike riding is one of the best ways to spend time outdoors and keep your physical activity levels high. Our real estate agents swear by it, especially in the right setting. Whether you're bringing family members or going it alone, these stellar bike trails are some of the best places to enjoy a ride on Long Island.

  • The Bethpage Bikeway – Woodbury, NY 11797
The Bethpage Bikeway is one of the most well-known bike paths in the Long Island area. The path offers a full 13.4 miles of asphalt-paved track that travels across several parks in Nassau County: Trail View State Park, Bethpage State Park, and Massapequa Preserve.

The long route passes alongside suburban landscapes near our Woodbury homes for sale, as well as lakes, rivers, and marshlands, so there's always something interesting to look at during your ride. Take a short ride and stop for a picnic or try to circle the entire trail in one go – whatever you do, you're sure to have a good time.

  • Stillwell Woods Preserve - South Woods Road, Syosset, NY 11791
The Stillwell Woods Nature Preserve is a 270-acre space dedicated to preserving the unique plants and animals of Long Island. It's also a great place for mountain biking near our Syosset homes for sale.

The preserve has a gentle beginner's loop trail and several intermediate and advanced paths for those who are confident in their riding ability. The more challenging trails include features like short, sandy climbs and rocky terrain, so be sure to wear the proper gear when heading out for a ride at this location.

  • Meadowlark Trail - Huntington, NY 11768
Meadowlark Trail is a 5.8 km trail near our Huntington homes for sale. Its features include many tight turns, embedded logs to ride over, and up to 40 meters of elevation in places.

This is a moderately difficult path with lots of bright open areas that takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete—just enough time for a pleasant afternoon ride. Dogs are welcome as long as they are kept leashed, so feel free to bring your furry friend if he can keep up with you on foot.

  • Edgewood Oak Brush Plains Preserve - 50 Circle Dr., Stony Brook, NY 11790
The Edgewood Oak Brush Plains Reserve offers 12.3 miles of beginner, intermediate, and advanced trails near our Stony Brook homes for sale. The beginner loop spans 5.5 miles and is surrounded by low shrub thickets and aspen trees, a rare biome on Long Island.

You'll need a printed and signed seasonal access permit to use this trail in the winter months. The permit is free and can be submitted electronically, so get yours ready if you plan to visit during the winter months.

  • Hempstead Harbor Woods Mountain Bike Trails - 145 W. Shore Rd., Port Washington, NY 11050
With their hilly terrain and sandy soil, the Hempstead Harbor Woods mountain bike trails are some of the most difficult bike paths on Long Island. The highlight is the double black diamond trail, a tricky track that challenges riders to traverse a field of large rocks with intricate criss-cross maneuvers.

This is one of the most exciting biking locations near our Port Washington homes for sale, and it's sure to give seasoned riders a thrill, but it may be too much for young bikers – exercise caution when bringing children along.
