Long Island Cultural Calendars: Must-See Spring Events & Exhibits | Laffey Real Estate

Long Island's arts and culture scene tends to warm up when the weather does, with new events and exhibits for the public each spring. Our real estate agents always make time to see at least a few!

Let's get started with arts and culture events debuting this spring around Long Island and Queens.

Must-See Arts and Culture Events and Exhibits

America 250 Events at the Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum & Reichert Planetarium

Address: 180 Little Neck Road, Centerport, NY 11721

2026 marks the 250th anniversary of America's founding, and the Vanderbilt Museum & Reichert Planetarium near our Centerport homes for sale has two special spring exhibits ready to celebrate. From now until mid-July, guests can enjoy:

  • Colonial Astronomy, a peek at how early settlers used star positions for navigation, storytelling, and divination
  • A Walk Through History, a guided tour of the museum that highlights the Vanderbilt family's military contributions from the War of 1812 through World War II

Visit the museum from noon to 5 p.m. on Fridays and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends. Both special exhibits are included with general admission.

Regency Romance Weekend at Old Westbury Gardens

Address: 71 Old Westbury Road, Old Westbury, NY 11568

Old Westbury Gardens' house and grounds were built around 100 years after the Regency era, but they're dripping with the same elegant style. Regency Romance Weekend is an exhibition designed to make you feel like you've stepped into your favorite Regency tale. Visit this estate near our Old Westbury homes for sale on May 2-3 to enjoy activities like:

  • Tours of the historic house and gardens
  • Educational scavenger hunts and trivia games themed around Jane Austen
  • Live classical music versions of hit modern tunes, just like the covers heard on "Bridgerton"
  • Lawn games like croquet, ring toss, and cornhole
  • Short workshops on watercolor painting, dance, embroidery, and other Regency pastimes
  • Storybook Stroll, a walk and craft challenge for children that includes a reading from a picture book biography on Jane Austen

Most activities are intended for guests aged 12 and up. The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Dressing up in period-appropriate clothing is optional but highly encouraged.

Ridgewood Jazz: Miles Davis Centennial Jam at Queens Theatre

Address: 14 United Nations Ave. S., Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Corona, NY 11368

Ridgewood Jazz: Miles Davis Centennial Jam is a jazz performance organized in honor of the 100th birthday of legendary musician Miles Davis. It's part of the Queens Theatre's ongoing B-Side Series, which aims to help artists in the Queens community come together to share their talents and collaborate on creative projects.

The jam is scheduled for April 19 at 2 p.m. in the theatre's cabaret, located in Flushing Meadows Corona Park just west of our Flushing homes for sale. Musicians of all skill levels are invited to join in on the fun, and spectators are welcome too.

Long Island's Best: Young Artists at the Heckscher Museum 2026

Address: 2 Prime Ave., Huntington, NY 11743

Long Island's Best: Young Artists at the Heckscher Museum 2026 is the museum's annual showcase for budding local artists. This year's expert panel reviewed 403 works from high school art students on Long Island before selecting 84 of the best pieces for display at the museum building near our Huntington homes for sale.
