Uniondale Canstruction Makes a Difference

Our real estate agents are proud to introduce new clients to Uniondale homes for sale and all our community has to offer.

The quintessential suburban community, Uniondale is known for its diversity, business, entertainment, charitable events, and community spirit.  Charitable events are an integral part of any strong community, and Uniondale sits at the very heart of one of Long Island's iconic fundraisers: Canstruction Long Island.

For decades, competitors have gathered from all over to participate in this inspiring food drive, and the cost for admission is hardly steep -- a single can of food.

Uniondale Proves You "CAN" Make a Difference With Canstruction Long Island

Whether you donate one can or a thousand, your attendance at Long Island's Canstruction competition represents the fight against starvation and hunger in your community. The Canstruction competition is known worldwide and has grown from humble beginnings in 1992 to be one of the largest food drives in the world.

Canstruction Long Island 2018 takes off on Wedneday, October 24 with exhibits being open to the public Friday, October 26 - Monday, November 12 at RXR Plaza, Uniondale, NY.

Uniondale has hosted the Long Island Canstruction competition since 2007, with the single goal of providing suffering citizens of Long Island with the food they need. For those unfamiliar with the competition, here's a rundown of how it works. At the beginning of the event, teams of five or less volunteers are given 12 hours to create colossal, breathtaking works of art using nothing but cans of food, competing to show off their talents and can-sculpting chops. There are several categories of entry, judged by a panel of city-elected jurors.

The next day, every team's entry is transformed into part of a huge art exhibit. You can walk among the entries and witness the ingenuity of the teams of engineers, architects, designers, contractors, and other participants - as long as you donate a single nonperishable can of food to the cause. At the end of the exhibit, all of the cans used in each sculpture are donated to local food banks to help fight hunger on Long Island.

Canstruction has brought to life some amazing can sculptures over the years, all while providing donations to a worthwhile charity and raising social awareness through this creative competition. The participants of Canstruction Long Island have donated nearly 500,000 cans and almost 300,000 meals since 2007. The theme of the competition is to use "one can" to prove you can make a difference.
